EMERALD device does not require replacement of cartridges but after production of every 250 – 500L of purified water, de-scaling of electrochemical cell by 5-7% hydrochloric acid solution or 15% acetic acid (1 part of acetic acid to 3 parts of water) is recommended. Fill in a standard plastic bottle with acid solution. Connect the enclosed hand pump to the bottle. Connect the incoming water line to the hand pump. Direct purified water line and outgoing waste line to the other empty plastic bottle.
Before you start de-scaling disconnect the device from the electric power source!
Start pumping the solution into device until all solution has gone through from one bottle to the other. Wait for 5-10 minutes. Connect the incoming water line to water faucet. Drop purified water line and outgoing waste line into the sink or drain.
Open water faucet and flash device for 5 minutes maintaining a normal flow (60 liters per hour) without connecting to the electric power source.
Close the water faucet and connect the device to the electric source.
EMERALD device will serve you for a very long time you do the de-scaling routinely.
