Comment on Functioning of STEL devices Destined for Disinfecting Solutions Manufacturing
“Stomatological polyclinic No 3”, JSC, the city of Tyumen. February 22, 2006. L. A. Ivanova, the chief medical officer: “For more than 5 years there have been STEL devices operated in the institution that represent our branch. These devices are destined for disinfecting, sterilising and washing solutions (that is, anolytes and catholytes) simultaneous synthesis of common tap water. Rich experience of these devices application has demonstrated their sufficient effectiveness and economy in use. At the same time these devices are easy-to-maintain, their dimensions and weight are of low-value. The solutions synthesized in STEL devices demonstrate high-performance and, at the same time, they are considerably cheaper than traditional disinfecting substances currently applied. It would be sufficient if we mention that one litre of anolyte solution is by more than 100 times as more cheap as one litre of chloramine (the calculations have been made by Academy of Medical-and-technical sciences of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry (or Nature) of the Russian Federation). As the result of STEL devices application, our institution provision with disinfecting agents became stable and the quality of overall cleaning procedures has improved (this facts are testified by protocols of the laboratory washouts analysis for microbiological surfaces insemination). Autonomy of provision with disinfecting agents permitted to gain independence from their possible absence at storehouse. Anolytes synthesized in STEL devices are safe for application, and according to their acute toxicity parameters, they are referred to the 4-th class of low-hazard substances, in compliance with GOST (State Standard) 12.1.007. There are hygienic certificates for anolytes application in medical practice available. At the present time, disinfecting agents manufacturing with the help of electrochemical activation technology which is implemented in STEL devices is recommended for application by the Government of the Russian Federation. (COMMISSION OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION No VCh-P2-01044 of January 15, 1998, LETTER of the Ministry of Economics of Russia No 701-P of March 02, 1998). Accordingly, our experience of the devices of STEL-type application shows that these devices are able to demonstrate high-performance, they are reliable and easy-to-operate, and they should be more widely used in patient-care and disease-prevention institutions.” |
