Opinion of Biological Control Laboratory of the State Hermitage Made on the Basis of the Results Obtained for Aerosol Disinfection Method Testing

The State Hermitage. June 01, 2000. No 1152.

A. V. Bogdanov, the deputy director of the State Hermitage:

“The premises, located at Sivkov passage, under “Hanging garden” which doesn’t have any roof and is open to atmospheric precipitations, were attacked by mycelial funguses as a result of damage that was inflicted on dampproofing of garden foundation.

… Conclusion.

Aerosol disinfection method seems to us as having prospects for treatment of museum premises affected by mustiness after damages, provided that there are no exhibits available in these premises – high air humidity and chlorine ions stimulate destruction of materials which exhibits are made of.”
